Palacio de los Deportes is the copper-domed indoor arena in Iztacalco, next to the Magdalena Mixiuhca sports complex. It was built for basketball at the 1968 Olympic Games, and since the 1990s it has been one of the city’s regular venues for big concerts. It’s 9.1 km from Hotel Emma Boutique, and the Metro leaves you about a 10-minute walk away.

About the venue
- The dome is made of copper panels over a wooden frame, designed by Félix Candela with Antonio Peyrí and Enrique Castañeda Tamborell.
- It was finished in September 1968, a month before the Olympic Games.
- It has hosted Metallica, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters and Guns N’ Roses, along with fairs and sporting events.
- Capacity changes with each stage setup; check your event’s seating map when you buy.
- It shares the area with Estadio GNP Seguros and the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, so events sometimes overlap.
Getting there from Hotel Emma Boutique
- Metro: walk 200 m to Sevilla station and take Line 1 toward Observatorio to Tacubaya, three stops away. Change to Line 9 toward Pantitlán and get off at Velódromo.
- Walking from Velódromo: take the exit to the fenced footbridge over the Viaducto, go down the stairs on the left and follow the dome to Calle Añil, where Gate 1 is. It takes about 10 minutes.
- Taxi or app: about 9 km via the Viaducto. Traffic on Río Churubusco is heavy on concert nights, so ask to be dropped a few blocks away.
Ciudad Deportiva, the next stop on Line 9, is also close, but its exits are geared to Estadio GNP Seguros.
Getting back at night
The Metro closes at midnight. If the show ends early enough to catch a train, reverse the route: Line 9 toward Tacubaya, then Line 1 toward Pantitlán to Sevilla. If it ends late, order a taxi or app ride; walk a few blocks away from the exit, where traffic clears and cars arrive faster.
Tips
- Food and drinks, professional cameras, tripods, aerosols and sharp objects are generally not allowed. Check your event’s list.
- Bring your ticket in the Ticketmaster app, a charged phone and ID.
- Arrive at least an hour early: security lines fill up close to showtime.
- Check whether Estadio GNP Seguros or the Autódromo has an event the same day: the area gets much busier.
