Toluca International Airport sits in the Toluca Valley, in the State of Mexico, about 54 km from Hotel Emma Boutique. Some airlines use it as an alternative to the capital’s airports. Since February 2026, El Insurgente train has run the full route between Observatorio and Zinacantepec, which covers much of the way. One catch: the train doesn’t reach the airport terminal, so the last stretch is by road.

What El Insurgente is and how it helps
- It’s the Mexico City–Toluca Interurban Train, linking Observatorio station in Mexico City with Zinacantepec, west of Toluca.
- At Observatorio it connects with Metro Line 1, the same line that stops at Sevilla, 200 m from the hotel.
- It stops at Santa Fe, Lerma, Metepec and Toluca Centro.
- Metepec station is the one named as the link to the airport; from there you need a taxi or local transport.
Getting between the airport and the hotel
By public transit: board at Sevilla Metro, 200 m from the hotel, and take Line 1 toward Observatorio, four stops. At Observatorio follow the signs to El Insurgente and ride toward Zinacantepec. Get off at the Toluca-side station your route calls for, usually Metepec, and take a taxi to the airport. To come back, get a taxi to the station, ride the train to Observatorio and Line 1 to Sevilla.
By taxi or car: the simplest option, especially with luggage. The route leaves the city through Santa Fe and the Toluca highway, which backs up at rush hour.
How to pay
The Metro and El Insurgente take the Integrated Mobility Card (Tarjeta de Movilidad Integrada). On the train, fares depend on distance: you tap in and tap out, so keep enough balance. The taxi for the last stretch is paid separately; agree on or confirm the fare before you get in.
Tips
- Before choosing this airport, compare the total transfer time with AICM or AIFA.
- For very early flights, a direct taxi is usually the only practical option: the Metro opens at 5:00 on weekdays and later on weekends.
- Toluca sits higher than Mexico City and is usually colder; bring a jacket.
- With big suitcases, avoid Line 1 at rush hour.
